Running Your Mouth, Not Your Legs

Hey ladies: it seems that I was an even bigger fool to begin with than I thought. Some douche bag wrote an article about how us delicate flowers are not meant to run. Ever. Check it out. Tell him to shut the fuck up.

What a fucking narrow-minded dick. If I ever meet him, I'll show him why women shouldn't do karate either.
(Because they would kick his ass.)

My, you Beeches sound angry. No matter how hard you try you just can't grow a penis huh?

I posted a blog response to this post because I was that mad. Yes, anonymous, I was mad.

Beeches are trees. Last time I checked, none of us are trees. Nor do trees go penises, as they would be utterly useless.

Thanks for stopping by, Anonymous.

People don't "go" penes either though.

Go, penes, go! Sounds like a Dr Seuss book.

I wrote the dickwad a note.

Wow. Did any of you read the article? He wasn't attacking anything, he had valid points. I am not fat or big-boned or anything like that, but I can't run. I haven't got the right bone structure. When I run, my knees ache. Riding a bike? Not so much. Running creates too much stress on my joints. Anyway, the guy has a point. And really? Do you really think he's a dick just because of that? Come on.

Yes, in fact, I read this article multiple times and it made me angrier every time I read it. The problem is that he does not say that some people are just never going to be runners. The problem is that he sayd MOST WOMEN. He describes MOST WOMEN as "plus-sized models" or "hurt and saggy." Now, there is nothing wrong with women in those categories, but I hardly think it describes MOST WOMEN.

This article makes a very gross generalization about women who don't look like elite male runners and then tells us not to even bother trying. Sure, running is NOT for everyone, including many men. But how would you ever know if you didn't try? Trying it, finding it painful, and continuing to do it is definitely foolish. But his advice was not "try it and see how it feels." It was telling women who look like me (except not really, since I am not a "plus-sze model," "cute and little", or "hurt and saggy", the only three types of women he identifies) not to even bother.

Had I read this article 10 years ago, I might have listened for a variety of reasons. And I would have missed out on 8 years of an exercise I enjoy on a semi-regular basis.
